Just noticed this last nite.

On channel one of my 3 channel DR.

When switching from clean mode to pushed mode
the signal/volume is WAY lower than the clean. Weird.

Thinking it's maybe the v1 or v2 pre-tube which I'll
check after work.

I always recall getting a bit of a volume increase when doing this
just like going from vintage to modern mode in the same channel.

Any other thoughts on what else I can take a look see at?

Thanks guys.

I think you're right on the money. When I had my DR, ch1 pushed was definitely louder than the clean. How much life do the preamp tubes have on them?

Thanks guys.

All tubes are about 4 months old, all Mesa.

Checked it out when I got home.
Seems the volume issue has "resolved" itself.
Yet the raw mode still doesnt sound quite right.
A bit staticy if you will.

Gonna do some tube swapping this weekend
cuz I'll have time and an empty house to
fill with the beautiful noise! :D

Success!

Good news, it was a pre-tube.

Bad news, not sure which one as I just popped
in five known good ones and fired it back up.
They're all marked so I will definitely go back
and figure out which one(s) are bunk.

The whole amp(every channel and mode) sounds
way better! Has more punch and gain.
Definitely leads me to suspect v1 and v2 for sure now,
as they handle the 1st and 2nd input stages for all three channels.

BTW I really dig the "pushed mode".

THNX and later,
