Man, you guys are so lucky in America! My new PRS custom 22 cost me AU$5000! That's still $4100 US dollars!

Here's another sentence that ends in an exclamation point!!!

Sure it's 10 top and a quilt to boot but still.....

I say buy the guitar and say "God bless America" - or something like that.

I'm so jealous....

If you're saying the '87 Standard is a 22 fret guitar Run Away!! PRS made NO 22 fret guitars in '87 . The first 22 fret PRS guitars were made in 1991 with theDragon model.

Nope you won't, it's a private listing in a faraway country (which I will not reveal for the time being ;) ).

He's still in doubt whether he wants to sell it or not. When I showed interest he jacked up the price a bit and wanted to think about it. I've been going to guitar stores and jamming newer PRSs' to get a feel for them (to my surprise some that sounded/felt sh!t for a $2.5k guitar. I've found really bad quality ones but also some really great).

The thing is this guitar is only 22 frets and no other bells and whistles. I want a 24 fret version since all my gibsons are 22 frets. I won't cry myself to sleep of course but still...

He doesn't seem to be in a hurry to sell it (which should mean it still plays great) so we'll see what happens.

You sure $3000 isn't a little over the top? (read somewhere that '87 with birds usually go for $2500-2700, but I guess these are getting scarce).

It was actually a 24 fret but I passed on it for now. It was in too bad shape. It sounded good but felt a little flubby, but not enough to justify the price he wanted. With a little maintenance it might be worth it though.

Maybe I'll buy it just to save it from misuse of previous owner :D

Save it from further abuse. Make a foundation or something...

Russ, you ran the gaunlet, post in every bulletin boards on this forum. Sorry to break it up, but for a darn good reason

Only one problem with that dream....

The guitar is left-handed. :?

Those eighties PRS guitars are just going to keep increasing in value. I'd be all over it if I was you. As for the new guitars, compare and contrast.

No I don't work for Hamer, I'm just a fan.

From my limited knowledge, an 87 PRS is a collector item and you don't want to play it considering the ridiclous price you'll end up paying. $4k is not unusual. BaM will tell you more, and might be a good aplce to advertise it for your friend / contact.

It's a little like finding a '59 sunburst - you want it but could you ever bring yourself to play it?!

And Ed Roman has to be taken with a huge pinch of salt as he lost his PRS dealership and suddenly started disliking them...
