I've decided to sell my vintage 1970's Mesa Boogie Mark I. I'm pretty sure it's a 1975 model year. There's no sharpie date written on the chassis underside that I can see, but both the power and output transformers have 606-75 date codes on them. The chassis has Randall Smith's signature on the bottom. It's an early serial number, sub-400. This is a 100-watt, no graphic EQ model with reverb. This particular amp was built with the reverb control on the front and the midrange control on the rear with no presence control. It's covered in blonde tolex with brown grill cloth. Overall, the amp is really clean with no major scuffs, tears, rips or snags in the covering. The amp starts up fine, idles pretty quietly and sound great.
The speaker is a non-original Celestion Classis Lead 80. Overall, the amp is not very heavy at right about 50 lb. with the current speaker. The reverb is surprisingly strong and lush for a vintage Boogie. The clean tone is very fat, warm and smooth. There's enough gain on tap to get the early Santana, Carlton or Carlos Rios sounds but, it's not a gain monster. On input #2 with the gain nearly maxed and the boost and bright pulled, it can get a "D" style tone.
I'm selling for $2200 cash. Local pickup in New England. I'm in Western Maine and would be willing to drive up to 2-3 hours to meet someone. Thanks!
