I have a 5:50 2x12 combo that I absolutley love. However last night I noticed the cabinet buzzing when playing low notes(5w or full power ). I can stop the buzzing by pressing down on the top of the amp. Is this a common problem and do you think its the chassis vibrating against the cabinet? How hard is it to remove the chassis and what precautions should I use when doing so? Thanks for any help!

I noticed it on mine, but only with specific notes, the low string approx F# or G up to about B, depending on how much low end eq I have dialed in.

I chalked it up to speaker and/or cabinet resonance. Not sure if any other factors are involved, but I notice this in most cabs and combos, not just the Mesa. I also notice the more "budget" the amp or cab is, the more vibration and rattle I get.

I bought a 5.50, took it home and when I played low notes there was a metallic buzz, it was really bad. I took it back to the shop and they said it was normal, I knew it wasn't.
They wouldn't do anything at first apart from take the amp out of the combo and check everything and all screws around the speaker because if they send it to mesa they will send it back and say there is nothing wrong with it, they would not order me another amp either.

I got funny and would not stop complaining until they gave me my money back.

I bought another 5.50 and its SILENT, no vibration.

If you get a Mesa with no faults they are GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!
But its pot luck, I have tried a few (different Mesa Models) which have all had faults from new until I got a perfect one. But when you get a perfect one they are reallly good, in fact amazing amps.

I found the problem. Just loosen the four screws on top of the amp tha holds the chassis a tiny amount. This stopped the amp from vibrating.
