Howdy all, just scored a V Twin and waiting for the postman to deliver it. It is an '01 model with the orig tubes. Since I am a complete tube noob, I'm wondering how long tubes last and should I look at getting new ones just based on their age alone?

I've read some cool stuff on here about swapping out tubes for tone's sake, but I'll probably go with the originals for a while. After 7 years, are they still gonna be OK?

Thanks....

PS: When were these units in production? I couldn't find that out doing some searching.

Never mind on my first question, I got my answer elsewhere....

I'd still be curious to know what years the V Twins were in production. Someone? Anyone? Hello?????

This is from the "owner's manual"

PLAYING MODERATLY BETWEEN 10 TO 15 HOURS A WEEK - "Power Tubes" will generally last 1 - 1.5 years.
"Preamp Tubes" will generally last 2 - 3 years.

"It is possible to alter the gain structure of all three modes in V-TWIN by simply replacing
one or both 12AX7 tubes housed under the shielding cage with 12AT7 tubes. This will reduce the
amount of gain fairly substantially without compromising the V-TWIN's overall voice. ."
