Hi Newbie from NZ here,
I got a single rec which is rad, but can't stop it squealing at the volume I want, could be my 707 pups, but anyway, can somebody let me know all the details of using the boogie as aslve with my JCM 900 100 watt head? Heres what I think, slave on recto gets plugged into guitar input of 900, then 900 gets plugged into speaker Marshall 4x12, sometimes a recto 4x12, but only one at a time for now, if this is right, what do speaker outputs from recto go to? Nothing? Or am I completely wrong? Please dont let me kill my amps! Will eagerly await replies! Cheers, good on ya's

NO!

Don't plug in your recto without a load (speaker cab) plugged in or you could fry your output transformer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Maybe I misunderstood, but I was so alarmed I did not re-read your initial post!

ok well I already have a noise gate, sometimes it just doesnt cut it tho, it is an extremely old yamaha thing. Anyway, I know you are not meant to even turn on a head without a cab plugged in, but (assuming) slave is what I think it is, wouldnt the marshall head(power amp) be connected to the cab? So my question is, what does the mesa speaker go to? Surely not the other input of the cab? It is stereo but running it this way will not be in stereo.

I have been playing my Single rec loaded down and use it direct into a mixer for over a year now with no issues which is similar to what you are trying to do.

to run your single rec slaved you will have to plug a load of some kind into the speaker output it doesn't have to be a speaker. Something like a thd hotplate would work.

If squealing is the only problem you are having Id suggest solving that rather than figuring out a way to make your rig more complicated/heavier with two amps. Have you replaced the tubes?.

It took me a year to learn how to dial in a single rectifier and the biggest lesson I learned was that having your channel volumes too high (anywhere above noon) will cause the amp to squeal and oscillate and do all kinds of crazy things.

It will be loud enough with 50 watts. If you use el34 tubes im sure it will sound 99% the same as being slaved into that marshall

cheers for that, that was my main question, whether something had to be plugged in the speaker jacks, I guess it could be my tubes, was just looking for something that didnt invlove me spending money, but I do also have the gain pretty hihg so maybe I'll try backing off on that a bit, cheers again coppa
