No harm, no foul. That ebay link that you posted about the export long chassis C+ almost cost me some serious money. As far as the tube setup goes, the Tungram in V1 and V2 plus the Sylvania STR-415 power section in my '84 C+ (with the brightness reduction mod) gives a clean channel sound so good that it should be illegal. Somehow, I suspect that it is. 8)

Sorry to bump this thread guys, I'm planning on buying some RFTs from either ebay or the tubemonger. Is it necessary that they be matched?

I just bought some RFTs and as far as I know, preamp tubes needing to be "matched" is a myth. Its the power tubes that have to be matched. Anyone correct me if Im wrong.

I just got a pair off a friend.

They made a bit of a difference, but it wasn't as dramatic as I thought it would be. There's maybe a tad more clarity. The biggest difference is the FEEL probably. It's possible they were used up also. I kept them in but I will probably buy another new one to compare.

I put them in V1 and V3

hey guys! I am new to these preamp tube changing! and I having difficulties with muddy - undefined tone of 2011 dual rectifier.. I heard it a lot on Tungsram ECC83 and Haltron 12AX7 labels ..do you think does it worth to replace stock one with them? doing this will make sense?.. I am a way far from legendary RECTO tone on high volumes..
