I bought my DR 3 channel from someone that had swapped out the stock valves to the following:
Rectifier: 2x GZ34, Pre-amp: 4x ECC83S & 1x ECC803, Power: 2x 6V6 & 2x KT77. I instantly put the stock valves in without even listening  but I thought I'd experiment and swap them back over to see what would happen but I can't remember which tubes went where in the power section (I know the bias switch had to be switched over). Does anyone know what order they should go in and does it really matter? Also, is the bias switch only used when the power amp tubes are changed? So, could I swap out the pre-amp and/or the rectifier tubes but leave the stock power tubes in without changing the bias?
Does anyone else have experience of this tube configuration?
Cheers :D

We definitely don't recommend using this combination of tube types - recto or power tubes!!

However, to answer your question on the bias switch - it only applies to the power tubes. When switching between EL34's and 6L6's just be sure its on the corresponding setting. Thanks!

...thanks for the info. I think I'll play safe and just change out the pre-amp tubes. Do you know why the GZ34s aren't recommended?

I run GZ's in my roadster with no issues. You could possibly blow the main fuse.

OK, thanks but Mesa make a 5AR4, isn't that the similar to a gz34? Could that be used? I need reduce the 'sag' from my amp

We do make a 5AR4/GZ34 - they will draw more current, which will also up the current the power tubes receive. We used the 5AR4 in a few models, and in most cases it will be ok in the Recto. If you want to reduce sag, use the Silicone Diode mode! Thanks!

What do you think about my tube setup from Eurotubes?

KT-88, KT-66, GZ34 rec tubes. All in my 2 channel Dual.

I WON'T use Chinese tubes in ANY of my Mesa's, they aren't reliable, they cost too much and they sound like total ***!

Once again, we do NOT recommend using KT88's in a Rectifier. KT66's are a 6l6 variant, and should be safe.

FWIW, Chinese 6L6's have proven to be very reliable and sound great. (And we've gone through tens of thousands of tubes!)
