Tubes - Both Preamp and Poweramp

Hey guys, I'm sure it's probably been discussed here a hundred times, so I apologize in advance.

Anyhow, I was talking with djw in another forum topic about tubes and I'm curious about what you guys have found as a good set of preamp tubes for the lonestar classic. I'm interested in the power tubes as well, but my main aim is to try some new preamp tubes to try out.

Sovtek EH 12 AX7's in V1 / 2 gets you great cleans to Angus crunch without driving them to death. Add your fav OD pedal to get creamy sustaining leads (I use PRS's)

I found the stock Mesa tubes too dark in this amp even with trebble opened up beyond 3 pm, and wanted more open grit in CH2. Used these tubes to lift my Marshall VM and Stiletto Deuce when I owned them
