I'm a bassist, into separates. Presently I use a tube preamp into a ss poweramp. I had a Strategy 400, but it was too much power for me. I never am in a situation where I could turn it up loud enough to experience that saturated power tube effect. Is something like a 2:90 suited for bass? I was looking at the Marshall 9100, a two channel 50wpc power amp running 6L6 tubes, but someone mentioned that since it is a guitar power amp, the output transformers might not be suited to lower frequencies.

For small venues, I wonder if a lower power tube power amp is a holy grail of sorts? Fender has the Bassman 100, but it is a head, and a bit pricy.
