If it seems to complicated for you to find all these sweet old tubes (and expensive), my TA was first tubed with 5 ElectroHarmonix 12AX7. I could obtained a very cutting sound out of LD2 green and yellow.

I've always used Boogie tubes. They're cheap, they sound great, and they're guaranteed for 6 months. That's hard to beat. Make sure you put the quietest tube in the V1 position to keep noise levels down on high gain sounds. I agree with Crane, LD 2 Yellow is great for metal. It's very focused and tight.

V1 in the TA is only for LD1 modes, and V2 for distortion.
In LD2 modes V2 is the input tube and V4 the drive tube.
So you have to use low noise tubes at least in V1 and V2

Oh yeah, I remember now. It's been about 5 years since I sold my Triaxis rig. I do miss the versatility, but I don't miss hauling all of that crap around or paying for eight 6L6GC's every year or so.
