Is there a version of the triaxis that has the recto board, and if so, what is the serial number range?

Also, about the dynamic voice. From what I hear its very solid state-y and very limited, and will clip if you have it to high or set the volume too high on the TA. Is there a way to prevent this? How do you guys go about doing it?

I used this from someone else's post here, I'd give credit to them but I forgot who it is. Here are the serials:

"1st version released 1992 - no V2.0 Continuous Control

TX4 Board (or recto board) added 1/25/1993 #T1631

2/16/93 2.0 software continuous control added

#T5200 - Phat Mod Added (with recto board)

10/2004 - TX4 Board (recto board) removed #T8279"

I've never really encountered those issues with the DV. If anything I like it a lot, mostly on lead 2. I dial in with care though, and try to balance out the volume that the DV will put out, with the channel volume, as well as the other gain controls. (gain, lead1/2gain, and treble) I believe the key is just balance, and dialing in with moderation, the tri is very sensitive.

So the one I got is 8186

That means it has the recto board and the phat mod? Is this version preferred over the ones without the rectoboard?

It would seem that you have the version I have, with the recto board and the fat mod. Still, I'd call Mesa to be 100% certain.

As to the preferred version, that's really a matter of opinion. It seems most folks prefer the verison which has the recto board without the fat mod, over the other versions. (1.0 before the recto board and 3.0, which is the current version without it) I've seen some people who like the fat mod, and of course opinions vary especially based on the type of music you play etc. I'm still kind of on the fence about it, but leaning towards removing it.
