I have had a TA for several years. It is humming incredibly loud with no input. I have taken out of rack, used with different power amp, changed out tubes numerous times. Still have the crazy hum.. I can gate it, but this requires a huge threshold and affects my playing dynamic. Why is this thing so loud with the hum and an all in one head with no input is dead silent. Too many $$ have been dropped to deal with amatuerish noise problems.. Are there any techs in the southeast that service Mesa, specifically a TA? I am a working bloke so I can't go without for a long period of time.. Any help will be greatly appreciated.. E me directly at
[email protected] THANKS!!

Only lead 2.. I can push the crap out of lead 1 and get a little hiss, but when I try to use same settings on lead 2, huge noise. I am a little pissed at the whole thing.. checking into ab engle midi pre..

I find the triaxis very sensitive to mains voltages and the quality thereof. But yes, it is excessively noisy. I used it on tour once and I think we got round it by using two (!) noise gates. One on the input (a boss ns-2 works just fine) to gate the guitar input, and then another on the output.

I am going to be trying a decimator (ISP) with it, as I accidentally blew one half of my last noise gate by plugging the power amp output into it (blonde moment)

But they can be tamed, but you do need a pre and a post noise gate.

send back to mesa and check for noise level..I think the tranny is the culprit..
