Maui Wowee!
My band is at the point where we need to start copyrighting our material.
We have been searching for a singer for a while and now too many flaky people have our music in their hands.
Yeah, it wasn't the smartest thing to hand it out, but it's done!

So.....
I talked with a guy I know that owns a really good studio here on Maui.
He said that by recording music and using the recordings to copyright the music, we are only protecting ourselves from people who steal our recordings.
He said that the best method is to transcribe the music and include the transcription, lyrics (written) and a recording.

Do any of you guys use any kind of transcription software?
Theory classes were a very long time ago! I simply don't have the time to try and figure out what we are playing and then write it down.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

i havn`t spent much time with gp6, but i have with gp5. imho it is a great tool for writing. i don`t bother with the RSE, but the notation side of gp is great. tab out your songs guitar, bass, drums, lyrics. and print them out! it also works well as a guitar trainer. for the price i don`t think you can go wrong.

:D Thanks!

Forgive the ignorance, but does it also figure out the actual musical notation, or does it only do tablature?

Also, can it handle faster music with lots of notes?
With gobs of distortion?

And....finally, can I use the interface I have now and mic my amp or do I have to run DI (thinking about hiss or mic noise) to make it work right?

Like I said, I'm a little ignorant when it comes to music software.

I don't mean to be Microsoft Techincal Support Department, => give you information that is totally useless

... and ironically its Microsoft's rival operating system Linux. Linux does have a software that supposedly transcribe your guitar playing. I never installed it so I never used it. And I'm not sure if you are using Linux or want to install Linux on your computer. But its free! I think all apps for Linux is free!

p.s. Ubuntu Linux does have a Mac version so you could dual boot in Mac and Ubuntu.

oh, your looking for a program to decipher your playing? not sure gp will suit your needs. you will still need to physically enter notes, time sigs, bpm, ect. there is a program that will do what your looking for, but im not sure what it is called. there is a youtube vid of some guy trying to be the worlds fastest guitar player who used that program to track his playing. can`t seem to find it now. i`ll chaeck in later

This one looks like it will create the musical notation and tab, but doesn't say if you can save the notation or if you can print it.
