Traditional 4x12 vs Standard 4x12 using Mark V

I'm about to sell my Mesa 2x12 Rectifier cab to finance a 4x12. I'd like to hear you guys opinion about the Traditional 4x12 vs Standard 4x12 using the Mark V head.

I don't use Mesa cabs. No reason why, just haven't got round to it.
I do however use a Marshall 1960A from 1980 with G12-65's (originals)
What I've found is that the amp becomes a lot easier to dial in. I'm used to halfstacks. So I don't try and compensate for the lack of bass I find with my Mark V 1x12 combo. When I plug it into the cab.

I have no problem getting the Mark V to sound great. But I've heard loads of different stories about the Standard Oversized cab about it being flubby and terrible with the Mark V. I've never tried the Traditional but had the Oversized back in the days when I owned the Triple Rectifier Reborn and I thought it sounded great. But maybe it only sounds great with Rectifiers? Opinions?

I own the traditional angled 412 and was using it with my Mark V head and the Mark 5:25 head. I downsized to the widebody closed back 112 a couple months ago and that's what I use every day. I'm not gigging, and am only playing the in the home studio, so the 112 was a better fit for my physical space and volume needs.

That said, I will not sell the traditional 412. It's a very solid cabinet, very similar in size to my Marshall 1960a, but better built and a bit heavier. It has a better mid-focus sound than the oversized cab and that's why I went with it. I thought the oversized sounded a little "scooped" or less present to me. The traditional has more than enough bottom end as well. When I bought the cab 10 years ago or so, I was running a Carvin V3 (the original 3 channel full size) head through it. I've used it with my JVM410 head, and recently with the Mark V head. Sounds great with everything.

Sounds like the Traditional is the right one for me. I know it's loud, but that won't be a problem using the Torpedo Reload. I will mainly use the Reload as a attenuator to be able to get the heavy sound at fairly low volumes when recording.

I have a roadking 412 that I have used with my combo before. I gig with combo on top of a lonestar 410 but overall I like the RK412 a bit better. I do use the clean channel alot along with channel 2 set to m1 mode for mid gain. Each setup sounds good with high gain as well, i just wanted you to know that clean is as important for me also. I've though of selling the 412 but changed my mind, I think i'll get another MV in a head format.

I use two standard 4x12 rectifier cabs with my Mark Five. The sound is big! It´s definitely not flubby at all. Sounds really great.

I've used both and my favorite (and what I own now and use) is the traditional 4x12. But then I'm going for more of an "old school" tone. IMO the traditional has a more balanced sound across the frequencies. I feel like the oversized 4x12 has more of a modern sound, more of that V curve tone with the lows and highs hyped more.

So it really depends on which styles you play more. For heavier more modern styles, especially if you're tuning down or using a 7 string, I'd go for the oversized. For more traditional styles (blues, classic rock, country, etc.) I think the smaller traditional cab is a better fit.
