Is there any particular quality brand tone pot that people here like to use? Just got my Les back with all new electronics installed and I've noticed that one of the tone pots doesn't really affect the tone too much until it's around 1 or 2 on the dial. In other words, there's no gradual slope when adjusting the pot. I figure I could jsut slap a new one in myself, but I want quality, not Guitar Center crapola. Thanks!

In a Les Paul, I like RS Guitarworks 500k Superpots as volume pots. The taper is great, though they feel a bit stiff.
I use regular CTS audio taper pots for tone controls. They have a decent sweep throughout their range.
I use .022 capacitors. I prefer PIO caps.

I get a decent taper on the tone controls. The get darker gradually with a bit of an "ooh-wah" tonal change when they get below 2. There's actually more cut at 1 than there is at 2. This is great with a fuzz pedal!

Bourns are the best pots you can buy...period.

For LP upgrade, you might want to try a kit from either Specialy Guitars, Rothstein, or RS:

Specialty Guitars --> http://www.specialtyguitars.com/kits/lespaul.html

Rothstein Guitars --> http://www.guitar-mod.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=WKGB111&Category_Code=GBK2

RS --> http://www.rsguitarworks.net/rsstore/product_info.php?cPath=31_60&products_id=520

I have heard only good things about all 3. Specialty seems to have the best prices, but I like the all the fancy capacitor chioces you get at Rothstein so I went with their kit and am extremely happy with the result.

Cool links, I have to decide which are better suited for me. By the way, do Les Paul's require long neck pots?
