Mesas come stock with 1n4007 standard recovery diodes. I bought a handful of fast recovery diodes that are higher spec'd earlier this week and I've been tossing around the idea of swapping them for the standard recoveries. For anyone who doesn't know, fast recovery diodes change from a conducting state to blocking state faster than standard diodes. Supposedly, this means they are less harsh and tighter.
But, I've been told, if the change from a tube rectifier to a diode is a factor of 100, changing from a standard to a fast recovery is a factor of about 5, and may/may not be noticable.
Anybody have anything to contribute to the decision?
