the rig....

on this song, i used the tone press to just boost the boogie, and used the lead channel set to CLEAN for the rhythms and pure boogie drive for the solos..

the chewy sound on the rhythm and lead parts is the Fulltone Mini DejaVibe
man, i dig that pedal.

Good mix. Guitar is not competing with the vocals or screaming over everything else. I hate when the guitar is too far out of the mix when playing live. I don't even turn up for my few solos, just pick a little harder.

Taking my Studio Pre out for a gig tomorrow. Hope my tone is 10% as good as yours.

hello bobby!
thanks for listening

yeah, i know what you mean about mixes that have the guitar stepping on everything.
i don't know why someone would mix it that way, but it does happen, even on pro stuff.

studio pre eh?
i've always wanted one.....

i had a marshall JMP-1 preamp once before, and i liked it ok, but only when i ran it into my boogie effects loop, using the boogie as the power amp.

and even then, the boogie smoothed it out, which is why i liked it.
