If any re-call I complained when I first got my Mark V at band volumes ch 2 and 3 squeal like a banshee. So I changed all the pre-amp and power tubes to EL 34's and Doug's tubes preamp cocktail. But I was jamming tonight with the band and the squeal is back. I dunno guys if it is my settings or what. I hope I did not blow another preamp tube ugggh. Can any of you post pix of your band Mark V band settings? My cleans are slammin; but the OD is driving me crazy when we jam. I have it set to Petrucci pix settings and it was squealing like nuts. I did lower the last EQ slider down and it helped but still not enough.

My question is; in band settings......how do you guys balance the Master volume and the CH volume as that is where it was coming from. When I lowered either one, it went away. But was not loud enough to cut through. Also I was using 45 watts. Maybe I should bump it up to 90 and lower the volumes. Also what is the difference between the two powers? Meaning what is Variac power? (sorry noob question....I was used to my VH4's and never had this problem. Halp!

Thanks for any advice guys.

I don't buy from Doug's Tubes anymore. The last time I bought from him, he sent me 3 dead tubes out of a pack of 7. I know of at least a few other people who have had bad experiences like this. I wouldn't be surprised if he sent you some defective tubes. I don't know why people talk him up so highly.

I have same issue with my mark V...only on channel 1 and with fx loop even with gain rolled off....i sent the amp to the assistance and I can't believe they doesn't know what's the problem...

Thanks guys. Can u recommend a better place to buy tubes? I may just retube the whole thing. Pre and power. Thanks again.

Thanks guys. Will check em out. Still wondering if it is a problem with the tweaking of the settings. Sounds great at normal medium home volume; but once cranked it is back with the hiss.

I wonder bringing it to every jam each week and moving it around can pop a tube. Possible or do you find transporting it once a week in your car to a jam space or gig; they are usual fine and stay in tact? Thanks again!
