just tried a pair of TAD 6L6 power amp tubes w/ Siemens EL34s (SimulClass or course) in my C+ today. Smoked! The lawn just died.

I tried the TAD 6L6STR's a couple of years ago, I really liked them, but I stuck in 7581A's again.
The TAD's where great though, very close to the 7581A's, I still have them and I'm thinking on buying another pair to put in my Superbassman.
I still have a lifetime supply of 7581A's for my boogie though....

Do you have a picture of the 7581A's? I am not sure what they look like. Maybe I will give those a try too.

This is the Jan Phillips 7581A: http://www.eifl.co.jp/index/tube/image/phi_7581a.jpg

I have also have a quad of these International Servicemaster fakes.

They came with my Superbassman years ago, they are Sovtecs rebranded as 7581a's, so be alert when buying. They don't sound all that bad, but why pay big money for cheap Sovtecs.

There is a short bottle GE7581A also, really great tubes.
