Hello, I just bought a TA-15, and I really like it. The issue is the metal cover. It is pretty tarnished. I have seen these for sale, and most have similar conditions. Has anyone attempted to clean one, and what were the results? Thanks.

I know this is an old thread but im the new owner of a TA-15. I love it. Except, that is, for one thing - the tarnish on the aluminum panel. I decided to see if I could polish it out but no luck. By chance, I stumbled across this, and I'll try to attach pictures. The first ones I'll post here shows how deep the imperfections went - this is after I sanded off the original finish and exposed what was happening underneath that spot.

Next are some shots of the final results. I really wish I'd taken shots of it before I began but as I often do I got caught up in the process of trying to figure out how to take care of it. The dark spots on the last shot are due to the reflective nature of the panel. As you can see, they aren’t there in the 2nd shot. The first shot, aagainst the red background, has some of the original finish still on it but it's on the curved portion and just looks like part of the reflective nature of the panel. You've got to look really close to be able to tell it's still there.

I'm very happy with how it cam out. Because it worked out so well, and because I know there are others who've got tarnished TA-15s, I'm wondering if I might make a few bucks taking care of this for others. If that sounds like something worth pursuing, what might I charge for doing this kind of thing?

Regardless, I'm really happy with how my $749.00 amp has turned out. 😎
