When did the New Sensor Corp. buy the Svetlana name? What year did Svetlana have to change their name to SED? I have some Svetlana 12ax7's that are not the same as the Svets you can now buy. The new ones have the ribs on the plates and look just like EH and Tungsols. These are smooth plates and the plates are a much darker grey. The date codes are 2000. Are these the older versions?

Everything I have read puts the change over sometime in early 2003. If your tubes are from 2000 the are the older "Svetlana" (current =C=).

Do you have those SED (Svetlana winged C's) tubes anymore in States? What I heard from experienced finnish tubecompany, they are the best new tubes around these days. Close to sound of NOS. If you're wondering, Finland is next to Soviet Union, St. Petersburg where those tubes are still made... :D

I bought 2 off of ebay from here in the states and I bought 3 from a ebay seller in england that had over 140 of them.

I had two of those SED 12AX7-tubes in my JMP-1 preamp.. now planning to order SED 6L6 power amp tubes to my Mesa stereo2:Fifty. This Finnish store sells them at tested bias range (medium) so that I can safely put them in Mesa and not have to worry about bias. I don't know if they send tubes over to US. Check out their website (also in english):
