What do you guys think of "Super Group"? I just caught an episode last night and I think it is pretty cool to see some old rockers getting together. I remember seeing most of them in their bands in the 80's. I guess with the resurgence of the 80's music (not just metal) comes the opportunity to exploit certain individuals for the purpose of advertising. I think that they could have potential if they were to have more time together than 12 days. I know I would buy a ticket to see Nugent, Baz, Scott Ian, and Bonham play together. I would probably even buy the cd instead of downloading it.

Watched an episode last night via Tivo. Thought it was pretty funny.

"Once again I'm going to have to agree with me" - Ted Nugent

Once Ted and Ian interact is pretty cool and Sebastian is always funny.

Yeah,I seem a few episods of that show as well.
I have to laugh at the bands name "FIST" (?)
Wonder what S.B. was thinking when he came up with that.

Yeah, isn't it funny how Scott Ian looks like a little kid with his hero? I always thought of Scott as a tough guy from Anthrax. With Ted he looks like a little boy.

Baz is classic. To me, I think that Baz gets almost tweekerish with that computer. I mean really, he should have just gone to dinner. Has anyone else noticed how his voice isn't the same since Skid Row? His weight certainly changed too...

Damnocracy? Isn't that a little bit like **** Yankees? It figures with Ted in the band. I never knew Ted had dentures but it certainly sounds and looks the case. He must have broken all his teeth off eating buckshot or birdshot from his kills on hunting trips. It kind of makes him goofy in a way. I still admire his playing though.

The name FIST sucked. Anything would be an improvement there...

yetto, we are talking Jason not John. It would be cool to see John playing with Jimi, Randy, Cliff, and Bon too.

not like I got room to talk (age is an *** kicker) but if you ever seen some of the 80's guys onVH-1 specials..well,there all a tad bit pudgy. Must be now they got the Playboy cover girl wifes and live life not on the road touring non stop that the munchies are settling in round the mid sections..lol
Vince Neil.....good gawd,he did a total transformation to get back in shape for a new Crue tour and plastic surgery.
Must be a ***** getting old and paying for your own weed now,,,poor bastards

Isn't it funny how the older hair guys are pretty vain? I couldn't believe the Vince thing. Man did he get fat. Baz seems to try to stay fit but still seems a little chunky as compared to his 19yr old Skid Row self.

I personally have gone up and down in weight since the 80s getting as light as 135 on a crystal-lean diet in the late 80s to pushing 250 in the mid nineties. I have hovered between 180-200 mostly but here recently have begun to drop weight again. I am hoping to be a solid 170 by the end of summer. In the 90's I got to be quite an alcoholic. Jim and Jack were my buddies and so were the burgers and cheesesteak sandwiches of Philly. I left Philly at my largest, good thing too. For a guy that stands 5'10"-5'11" I was pushing maximum density. Now, my construction business keeps me in relatively good shape but I can still get heavy if I don't watch out. For me the key is more protein less starch and alcohol. I get plenty of physical activity so that is not an issue. After I saw Vince a couple years ago I realized that I better watchout...

I remember when VH-1 was the channel my parents liked to watch, for they got to watch their favorite adult contemporary videos *YAWN*

Now they traded Micheal Bolton & Kenny G for a reality show with Scott Ian & Sebastian Bach. wow.

When I was a teenager growing up in the late 80's, I never wopuld have believed it if someone told me that Scott Ian would be on VH-1...

Yeah, how about that?

We are now the age of the parents of the 80's teenagers eldi. Face it. It sucks.

Of course VH-1 will continue to cater to the age group not the generation. As things progress, someday we will be seeing Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees or NSYNC on VH-1 shows. YUCK! BTW I only know these names because of our 15 yr old that listened to that crap a few years ago.

I often forget that the 80s were at least 20 years ago. It is a scary thought. I look at a lot of what we thought was too cool back then and it looks dated and as stupid as it did upon inception before people got into it. It is funny how some things can get popular just because.

"Supergroup" just more proof that rock is indeed dead, and we rely on older heros to try and bring it back. I lost respect for everyone on that show. Reality tv is horrible and its vh1 trying to make extra money off these peoples legends so they can afford to make the next big "rap" video.

Yeah, I must admit most reality tv sucks. I do find it interesting to see into the minds of what were our rock icons though. I mean to see that they have changed or are the same after all these years. I do believe that Doc McGEe is still an a$$. But then again, I suppose if it was me that he was making rich I wouldn't really care so long as he kept me on top. I think I could be flexible enough and give up some creative input if it sold and I got paid. Living the rockstar lifestyle was fun. I dated a record company exec and we got the royal treatment. I kind of miss it. Of course there was always a catch though. But who cares so long as you are having fun? It was the epitome of hedonism in its most definitive state. Partying with everyone afterhours and going to the industry parties in addition to the shows. It was almost like having a job to party not so much having the job in order to party.

I think that the reality tv shows get to be melodramatic though. I am of the state of mind nowadays that I can't stand drama. If things get to the point where it is a hassle or a headache I just walk away anymore to distance myself from people's issues.

I think Jason Newstead is going to be the bass player for the new supergroup. I read on blabbermouth. Also a priceless comment on blabbermouth was.
"Metallica just played a show in front of 60,000 people and set a record. Jason Newstead the bass player on the reality tv show supergroup." lol.

Evan is really cool in the real world (not the MTV show either) too. I never knew who he was married to though. Could you imagine being married to Tera Patrick?

If Jason is the next bass player on the next supergroup I just might have to watch it to see if he says anything about the split with Metallica and how his desire for growth that led him out of the group is what they seem to be doing in his absence. From what I understand, he wanted to do something a little outside the Metallica formula and it was his demise. I don't feel anything Metallica has done since Cliff has been in the formula of what Metallica is. To be honest, I haven't liked anything since the Black album. I barely liked the Black album but it certainly buries anything since. I feel Justice was cool as an introduction to Jason but still didn't sound like the Cliff years.

Russ, my mesa brother, you couldn't say the Metallica comment any better, you took the works out of my mouth. GOLD STAR! :p

About the show... I honestly enjoy watching it, every Sunday I get a really good laugh! To see fellow "musicians" being degraded on reality TV is something I can't miss  ok that was cruel.
My aunt and uncle got to hang out with Sebastian Bach a few years back, basically they say hes "acting the part", nothing on the show reminds them on the guy they met.

I am glad to see that I am not the only avid follower of the show.

I spend most of the episodes laughing and bewildered by the nonsense that is what they have become.

I figured that Baz isn't exactly being completely himself because he is a ham on stage and in front of the camera. If you have ever seen his other stuff that he has done for MTV or VH-1 you would only expect him to act like he is on Supergroup in order to maintain a level of hammishness.

If he is like any of the others I have met then he is probably pretty down to earth but has to maintain a certain bad-boy-ish attitude in front of the masses so that people don't take him as a real person but more of an icon. It is funny how some of the bigger artists are kind of shy but appear very boisterous and outgoing when performing.

I am happy that they finally got the final gig done but at the same time I am feeling like my Sunday nights will be lacking.... :?

Haha! Again I feel the same way.
The thing that bothered me is that I thought the show was going to be them creating and playing "original" songs! The final show should have been 2 hours. The first hour the usual bullsh!t and the second part consists of the whole live show.

I don't know if you have been watching the post shows but apparently they wanted to make 5-7 songs during the show but VH-1 wouldn't have it. Now that its over they want to make a demo or a full CD. They have a myspace too.

Lets see if there will be a Supergroup II!!!
