I have a 2011 era Standard (traditional) Mesa 4x12 cab loaded with British V30.
I have Mark V and VII amps.
I am looking for more low-end definition and less mid and highs spike.
Am I out too lunch to replace the four of them for the Electro Voice ?
Is that cab a good candidate for the swap ?

Thaanks for your help.

Welll.. if one finds the tonality of the evm pleasing then by all means go for it 🤭

Had a thiele cab with evm many years and finally grew tired of how it sounded and reacted to playing. Later on in my GAS journey bought similar cab again and all the qualities I got fed up were still there.. decided that EVM is not for me and would keep the V30s in the recto cab - that’s just my observation and ears

For Mark V I have dropped the 2200 slider to same level as 750 and it’s not spikey. Bass is defined when having the 80 slider in 3/4 of the range about.

:) well the Thiele EVM is indeed a boat anchor in a small package. LOL

I do find the EVM by itself works well with the Marks (V:90 or IIC+ in my case) but with other Mesas it's not my #1 choice. But do prefer it mixed with something else like the v30. But conversely I can't do all v30s either too much mid-range bump goodness for me.

But then I never sell anything so I don't have to buy anything back, however finding room is becoming a challenge

The EVM works for good many people but not for me.

Could the EVM GAS strike a 3rd time? :ROFLMAO: I'm thinking not

With such a mind I have it’s more than a possibility 🤭

This time would be great to have the widebody closed back 1x12 with EVM instead C90… hmmm… except my current physically challenged condition with operated shoulder and knee, it is better not to acquire anything heavier than a paperclip 🤣

EV’s are heavy speakers, four of them in a 4X12 cab would be very heavy. Good if you have roadies, bad if you don’t own a forklift.
I think you ought to consider the weight of the box.

You are nuts, but so am I.

The Traditional cab is smaller than the Standard cab (this is the same size as the OS Recto). The Traditional cab is 30 inches high by 29-7/8 inches wide. The Standard cab is 32-7/8 tall and 30-1/8 inch wide. The height measurements are excluding the casters. Standard cab will have more of a scooped tone and the Traditional cab will have more mid-range. I compared the two at the Mesa store in Hollywood before they closed due to Covid. Ran it with a MWDR. Was curious to find out how different the smaller cab was to the larger one.

With that in mind, EV will basically dish out what you throw into it. Mark VII is tuned much like the Mark III as I remember it to be. Similar to the JP2C. That being said, the VII and JP2C will work really good with the EVM12L Black Label speakers. The classic version does sound a bit different. I have both of those current manufactured speakers. 4 Black Label in a refurbished OS Recto 412 cab. The Classic I just stuffed into a widebody open back cab for S&G.

As for the Mark V90, you will notice it is voiced differently if you have not already discovered that by now. It will sound a bit sterile with the EV. Same with the Mark IVB. You can get used to it but I am one that never bonded with the Mark V90 due to its Honky tones you cannot get away from. The V30 speakers if they are like the current one's have more of a universal use to them. I sort of like that sound where some do not. Don't think the EV does not have a peak in the midrange in its frequency curve, it does but at a different area, also it is much brighter than the V30 but does not have the same beaming effect.
