I bought my Single used, and the guy I bought it from thought it was a good idea to paint the metal plating black with acrylic paint. It actually looks pretty good, but I would rather it original. I don't really want to shell out and buy a new shell for $300 or so. I don't want to scrape it off because I'm sure it will scratch the plating. I realize I probably could get the paint off with some paint stripper on the metal grill since its smooth, but not so much on the vent part that has a bit of a texture. Has anyone done this, or have any good ideas?

Mission accomplished with a little nail polish remover and elbow grease. Maybe not as easy as buying a new plate, but accomplished nevertheless. Thanks for the reply.

I guess I'm too late with the idea that I had.
Take a triple rec and run it through a single EVM12L, full blast.
I bet that would strip the paint of off anything.
