I apologize if this has been covered in another thread, but when I tried to find any threads on it, I just got people talking about the giant midi swithing systems, and that's not what I'm after. So:

First, let me just say that I don't know a lot about midi switching, but I was wondering:

I have a Mark V and I've been using it with the Footswitch from Mesa. It's getting crowded on my pedalboard, and I was wondering if I could replace the Footswitch with something else.
To specify: I ONLY use the footwitch for channel switching - I don't use any of the other buttons on the gigantic footswitch. Is i possible to use the jack switching on the rear panel of the amp to get some smaller single-switch-stomp-boxes for switching between channels?

I'm not interested in getting the big-ass G Major or other all-midi-switching systems. I just want a footswitch for changing the channels on my Mark V that doesn't use a lot of space for switching FX, Reverb, EQ etc...

Does anybody know?
thanks...

Yes, you can use the ext. jacks in the back to channel switch. You will need to find a pedal to do that, though.

thanks for reply!

you mean like an AB-switch, the way some guys switch between several amps?

An AB switch will not work for that channel switching. You will need a stereo switch that goes out to two mono ends, but I am unsure if the logic should be momentary or latching.

If momentary: you press channel 2's button to go to channel 2, and the same for channel 3, but if you want channel 1, you have to press whichever channel you are currently on, as that "turns off" the current channel which allows the "default" channel 1 to be heard.

Finding a pedal that will work is going to be difficult. The problem is: with 3 channels the pedal has to latch the channel on that you select, and also unlatch the previous channel at the same time. I built a switch box to allow my G major to switch all 3 channels on my Mark V. I could build a custom pedal for you if your interested.

hm.. I see.
hey, thanks for the offer! I think I'm gonna go rethink some things.

I'll definitely let you know if I decide on it on a later stage. Thanks for the help anyway :)

You mean, something like this?
