yeah, same thing as not being able to switch from vintage to modern on the rectifiers via a footswitch. That would solve all of our problems but apparently it's a big deal to build that in. That's why I resorted to an AC+. I run Ch 1 Fat Clean and use one side of the AC+ to give it a slight crunch, then run the other side Tite Gain and use the other side of the AC+ to give it some liquid for solos. Those Xotic pedals actually do a good job of maintaining the integrity of the tone much to my surprise. It's like I rigged Ace into a 4 channel amp with the AC+.

The reason that Mesa doesn't make the modes switchable via footswitch on the Stiletto and Recto is because they are configured so different that people would have a hard time finding a good middle ground in the settings. You would set up your "Tite Gain" how you wanted to sound good, then be disappointed when you switched to "Fluid Gain" because the controls interact differently and the settings you used dialing in the TG mode wouldn't translate as well.

That would lead to people to wanting more EQ flexibility when swapping modes on the fly and start them down a slippery slope they didn't want to travel. So for the sake of simplicity and to avoid the headaches, they didn't allow footswitching of the modes as long as they had a shared EQ section. Without the ability to alter EQ on the fly too, most people would tend to find one of the modes they liked and dial it in 100% to their liking.
