I'm split between these two amps, here are my favorite bands. If I had to describe the tone I want in two words it'd be tight and raw

Muse
Racer X
Paul Gilbert
SRV
Hendrix
Queen
Guns & Roses

Orange Rockerverb http://machinehead.co.uk/product_in...products_id/771

+ British Tone
+ Raw
+ Great cleans
+ Should be able to do Hendrix/ SRV http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3-l6plJXpE

- Not tight enough (my main concern, I want it to be this tight http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ES1RypBww_g )
- Enough gain for the likes of muse/Racer X ?

Or the mesa stiletto? i'd love to hear some of your opinions.

I don't own either amp, but I have played both.

To me the Rockerverb was a very dark amp. Even with the treble pegged, atleast on the one I tried, it wasn't bright enough to get a good crunch. It sounded much better in youtubes then I found it did in person.

For classic rock, the Stiletto outright slay's the rockerverb IMO. Just not comparable.

For the tight 80's racer X stuff (That was when I listened to them, if there still around, wow) that is a little tougher.

I think you would get a thicker tone straight in on the Rockerverb. I didn't find the rockerverb to be overly tight for 80's style. Maybe a touch tighter then the stiletto, much thicker though. I prefered the stiletto lead tone big time. I think with an external EQ in the loop though, the stiletto would be a freaking monster.

Lead tone, stiletto.(IMO)

I'm looking at picking up a stiletto.

There have been some guys on this board who have owned both, hopefully they will chime in. I know some definately prefer the rockerverb. overall, I prefered the stiletto.

For what you have listed, I think you'd like the Stilletto. I've had no problem getting good GNR tones and good 80's tightness. I'm only 1 week into my Strat but but the SRV tone is in there as well. The Ace (Stillettos), aren't for hiding behind though. Every little nuance or slip you make will come out; but it does make you more precise in the long run.

Play them both... let your ears and fingers decide.

I have to admit that, like a lot of other Stiletto players here, I initially found the amp to sound thin. But after tinkering with it and trying different settings, I have to say this amp can do anything. With an EQ in the loop, you can even to metal. Playing Tool's Stinkfist sounded awesome with an EQ. The GnR and classic rock stuff is what this amp is all about. I can't bring myself to plug back into my Recto since I purchased this amp. Also, I'm in love with the cleans on this amp. I have some really hot pickups in some of my guitars, and it still stays clean and chimey.

If you guys tried a vintage Marshall, they will seem rather bright. But hey, that's what pretty much everyone was using back in those days, and they cut thru. The Mesa Stiletto is similar in that aspect...

As for the Rockerverb, definitely an amp that's rather dark sounding when compared to those mentioned above...

I would say go for the Stiletto really...

Hey there, i own both of these amps.

As the RV runs on 6v6's you get and more gainy 'American' distortion sound. Its bloody beautiful to be honest, and the four stage gain circuit gives you plenty of options. Also, simply rolling the volume off on the guitar has never been so effective on any amp i have played.
I have the 50watt head and run it into a recto 2x12 cab. The cleans are stunning and the reverb beautiful, although they do tend to break up early when using humbuckers, you get slightly more headroom from single coils. It would suit your queen, GNR and muse sounds.

The Stiletto is definitely more british sounding in my opinion, given the el34 factor. The three gain options would suit players tones like SRV. The cleans absolutely sing on this thing with bucketloads more head room than the RV. I think what it comes down to is they would both be (or are as i play a bit of stuff from these genres too), very good amps for the job. It depends what guitars you're playing too? But in the end, you playing both of them is what will finally make your decision. We can only give you advice! Good luck! anymore questions id be happy to answer :D
Also, are you planning to use any pedals with them?
