yes! please. I would like to know as well. My earliest ACE's are ST 2410 (red cable) and ST 2411 (grey cable)

I've emailed them - I expect I'll hear back from them tomorrow.

What are these "red" and "grey" cables? I haven't heard of this.

It seems odd that you have two, sequentially numbered Ace's with different coloured anything. Please elaborate. :?:

Here are the two replies I received this morning, starting with the second reply first:

Greetings,

The 1st Ace would be 000001….but honestly the serial # does not mean too much as they are built all the same.

Thanks

Kris

Thanks for the reply, Kris!

Would you say that the first Ace was number "1," or was it listed as, say, "001" and went up sequencialy from there?

Sorry to bug you with these small questions, but you know how much we all love our Mesa amps. :)

Thanks.

Greetings,

Thanks for your email. There is no real method to our serial # system….it’s basically in numerical order. If you need the date of manufacture you can always give us a call with the serial # for that information.

Thanks

Kris

So, there we have it. I'm sure we'll get more info if any new stuff pops up.

Thanks and Kudo's to Kris Dilbeck for the prompt replies!

@ moot

i love to play stereo effects live and therefore bought the two 2x12" ace from my local dealer in 2006, in 2007 i piled up another two ace for improved transparency . the one amp (ST 2410) is wired inside by red cable. all the other aces i own are all wired with grey cable. don't ask me why.

there are also some slight improving changes in the stiletto logo from the early 2006 series and the grill cloth has changed into a bit darker.

would be nice to know when they were built, though it looks that the early models are poorly assembled as well. speakercable holder inside missing, tube plan plates missing inside the two amps ...

anyway, with my combination i am more than happy and don't worry about cabinet issues anymore.

Wow, four Aces - you win! :D

I had both the 2x12 combo as well as the Ace head at one point.
They sent the wrong cab (recto 4x12 instead of Stiletto 4x12) and I didn't like the tone as much; the 2x12 combo's cab is my favourite for the Ace. More direct, perhaps? More controlled for sure.

I sold the head/cab to a friend of mine, who's happier than, well... someone who doesn't have an Ace!

I checked my Ace's serial number and it's #ST-00332

So I guess I have a "pre-500" Ace! (well the Recto guys get to do it)

dean69 - I hadn't heard about any production problems with the Aces. I guess I was lucky since I haven't had a single problem with mine. In fact, I'm so sure about my Ace that I added a switch to turn the fan on and off, voiding the warrantee (sp?) (I never get the spelling of this right  )

Where did you place the switch? I've contemplated installing one or just trying to find a quieter fan.

And, its spelled warranty :D

D'oh, I knew I was close

I used one of the 4 Ohm speaker outs - I didn't really add a switch, per se, but I rewired the jack so if I have a plug in it the fan is on, pull the plug and it's off. There's not much room, and everything is PCB, so I had to improvise. All it took was un-soldering and taping off the speaker out wires and, after lengthening the fan's wires, I just hooked it up to the jack.

I know it voided the warranty but living in the Yukon it would have cost me a fortune just to ship it to Vancouver and back, anyway. I know a little something about amps so I'm not too worried.
But I know I'm taking my chances.
