Standard vs Tradition 4x12

Hi, I was wondering how many people use the Recto or Stiletto 4x12. I just purchased the Recto one, and use it with a 5150 II, hopefully soon will get a Mark IV. Anyway does anyone notice any real difference in sound between the two cabs, in general or with a Mark IV?

In short, the Stiletto cab will give you a tighter sound, while the Recto cab will give you a ton of bass (some argue that it is too loose).

I personally use the Recto cab with a DR and love it. I know lots of people who would argue differently. It's all in what you like.

The Traditional cab is my favorite cab on the market by far. Just a KILLER cab! Tight, percusive, aggressive. Just a great cab.

what would you say is the difference on a traditional 4x12 and 2 2x12 MESA cabs for a modern hard rock band.

right now i have a 1960 marshall cab 4x12 and want to upgrade to a mesa cab, but thinking of getting 2 2x12 instead.

what heads are you using with the Traditional cabs? I got the standard cab cause I wanted it NOW... ahahahahha. It def sounds better than the 2x12 I had built (but that looked cooler), and I have 5 different guitars that all sound different through it, even though some hav ethe same pickups. Anyway I keep going back and forth about another head to buy... (i have the 5150ii now) It'll either be a Mark IV or a Roadster. and it cant be both cause i cant justify 4000 for new toys

anyway, I think i want the mark IV more, will a standard cab have a huge effect on the tightness/ trackign? im guessing the roadster would fit right in with my cab.

I had the fortunate opportunity to have both AB'd side by side with My Mark IV head, DC-5 head and my Tremoverb Head some time back.

Let me just say that IMO the Traditional Stiletto cab BLEW the oversized recto out of the water in every way shape and form.

It was tighter, more articulate and provided oogles of bass. What a perfect sounding cab. It sounded rich and full with cleans as well as grit all the wya to full on gain.

As far as 2x12's, I also AB'd a vertical and horizontal recto cab side by side. Again, the Vertical had more characteristics of the traditional 4x12 while the horizontal more like the oversized. Actually, out of all, I didn't like the horizontal 2x12 at all.

I liked the vertical so much that I bought two. I run one with my DC, one with my Mark IV and the 4x12 goes to the TOV.

I'm running two of the oversize Recto 4x12 cabs with my Triple and have no probs with "excessive" bass or looseness, however.......

Band plays very loud, guitars are tuned 440 or no more than a halfstep down, amp is boosted with an EQ pedal with the sub-lows cut, speakers are well broken in.

Your mileage most certainly may vary.
