I have the WGS version and it's killer.

I played a speaker that had the magnet of a V30 but the membrane of a G12-65. Most badass little ******* ever. 1x12 cab and it sounded HUGE!!!!

i love g12-65's. i have never tried them with v30's, but i am not a huge v30 fan. you used to be able to find g12-65's in old marshall 1936 2x12 cabs. i would recomend the scumback. i personally would mix them with a g12h

I`m sure glad i received some feedback . I have an ED incoming. I have a 2x12 cab and of course i`ll wait and try the combination but I`m not too crazy about the V30`s lately. Anyway with a 90watt amp i`m considering changing out one of the speakers in the cab with another 60watt speaker . The G12H is only 30watts. The next in the Heritage series is the G12-65 but almost no feedback on this speaker. jeffp

i just go with what sounds good. 120watt heads into 20 watts and 25 watt greens and blacks. i know celestion makes a new 55watt speaker. i never have blown a speaker. even with my old mark amps where God only knows what is pumping through the cab when the master is on 3. all i know is it sounds good, feels good and i see lots of ****ies...

electro dyne is the only ED i am jones to have

The Mesa C90 sounds nice with the ED and pairs well with the V30. That said, I'd wait until you get the amp and have a bit of time on it before you look to replace the speaker.... you may just like the way it sounds stock.

I have an old mid eighties Marshall 1960A with G65's and it is very smooth sounding compared to the other celestions I own. Not overly deep but tight and punchy.

wow...talk about old threads. ha ha ha...

but, i too love the G65's. awesome speaker. i thought marshall only put them in 1936 2 x 12 cab. if you bought 1960 with G65's stock that is like winning the lottery in my book.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/100168049@N04/9489481691/in/photostream/ It's hidden behind the Mark lll in this picture. I'll take photos of the speakers tomorrow as the cabinet is at my drummer's house. I bought it brand new back in the eighties. The logo only says Mars, lots of touring really aged us but we both still perform regularly, today actually with the Mark lll riding it.

I actually have an extra pair of these that I'd be willing to sell if someone was really interested.
They were my first pair and the finish on the boxes has a little bit of white haze and the LPADs are not installed (parts would be included, just not onboard
Hey Matman! The new design that Joey got is quite a bit different! we ditched the beyma crossovers in lieu of a custom one with all 2% tolerance jantzen caps, 14 ga. inductors rated at 800 watts, and the addition of an onboard L pad. the 1.5 db cut beyma offered is just not enough. The components alone cost more than two of the beyma xovers. Hella difference tone! also went with the 3/4 build , heavier but , worth the little extra weight. they are tuned at 65hz flat to 500 (which is all winisd will plot) . Good call on the beyma though! without a doubt the best new speaker ive heard! IMO.
This is from the horse's mouth.
