Last night a friend of mine called me.
His truck had been stolen over the holidays and he needed to raise some cash.
I bought my old RK1 combo back from him for $1,000.
I've discovered that I do not like the Celestion MC90 Black Shadow speaker with Rectifiers. I never was able to dial out the fizz on this amp, and I think it was due to the stock speakers. Since I sold it to my friend a couple of years ago, I have experimented with a couple of Rectoverbs and found that the fizz seems to go away when I use speakers other than the stock MC90.
I do really like the clean tones with this speaker, but not the heavier tones.
Anyway......
I was wondering if anyone else had replaced the MC90's with a different speaker in a Roadking or Roadster combo?
I am thinking that I like a lot of the Eminence offerings more than Celestions. I have a few floating around that I will try out sooner or later.
I don't really like Vintage 30's alone, although I have had good luck mixing them.
I'm basically looking for the MC90 tone without the Recto fizz
