Hey I am thinking about building myself a cab instead of buying one. Has anyone else built one? And how does it sound if so? Do you guys think the material choice is that important?

I have a little Epiphone cab w/a 12' in it(16 ohm). I'm thinking about swapping an 8 ohm mesa speaker with, just don't know which one yet....maybe the c 90 like in my LSS.....I'm trying to figure it out too..... Chuck

I've done it - and it's a major pain IMO.

7ply birch - finger jointed.

Celestion V30's.

Tolex / Baffle

Corners

I could have bought one for as much as I spent building one.

I've known a few guys who have made them, never made one myself though. Looks like a pretty fun little project, even if it does cost as much as a "real" cab, it still is fun and you can make it look like whatever you want.

I am a cabnet maker, and my dad owns a fully equiped shop. So I figured why not. I made one before off of the london power specs. Now I think I am gonna dove talil something together. What woods would be suggested to use other than plywood? Should Baffles be used?
