I've read nothing (for the most part) but good reviews for the Sovtek MIG50's. I realize that it's like a JCM800 (thats what I gathered fro most reviews) but has anyone ever owned or used one? I'm also looking at a TubeMidget by them, is this the same as a regular MIG50 but just way more compact (head version, NOT combo)?

I don't know much about the tube midget, but I have a MIG-50 head...It's more like a JTM-45, rather than a JCM 800. (unless it has a master volume).

I also have a MIG-100 MV head, which really nails the JCM 800 tone.

Sovteks are excellent amps for the price.

But replace the plastic jacks and switches if you get one..the pots are also a bit cheap, especially on the earlier ones. (Like my MIG-50, the presence and volume pots have gone bad).

Sovtek amps are nice for the money and really can approximate a nice Marshall impersonation.

Just bought that midget yesterday. I like it, so far... obviously it doesnt give off insane gain, but it can obtain a pretty sweet vintage sound, and the cleans are nice as well... dammit, if only it were 2 channels : ( BUT, it is the CUTEST thing EVER. Oh man, it's on top of my 1960a... i'll try to take a pic of my Mesa rig next to the new Sovtek rig when i get the digicam from my friend.

The single channel is the sweetness behind that type of amp. Nononsense approach to good tone. One trick ponies only have to do one thing well.
