After having finished recording guitar tracks for my band at the studio I finally brought my rig back home.

So today I felt like doing some home recording to make good use of my time alone in the apartment.

I've been experimenting with different settings and mic placements. Mostly to get a decent sound at low volume.

When I found something I liked I made a quick clip to share the results.

Some of you might be familiar with the song.
It's a segment off of Dream Theater's Blind Faith (Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence).

I programmed the drums and recorded the bass myself (with a pick mind you, I suck with fingers).

Wow, Nice tone man. Your MArk IV clips are making me want to get a MarkIV. And go in debt for it :)

now man, you have to tell us your record set!
cab?
mics?
mic preamp?
eq?
DAW used?
plugins?
ehehehe :p

Sure.

Cab: Mesa Boogie 4x12 Rectifier
Mic: SM57
Preamp: Presonus Firebox
DAW: Sonar 6
Plugins (including for bass and drums): EZDrummer; Sonitus' EQ, Compressor, Reverb; Izotope Ozone.

I did a bit of EQing on all tracks but I'm still very new at this. I'm definitely not happy with my mixes yet.

well you have a very very very very good tone (and high quality too) to start with!
keep goin' mate :)
ah and give a try to the roger nichols plugins , they are very cool and useful!
