Sound/volume difference between 1x12 and 2x12 3/4 back cabs?

For those of you who have tried both the 1x12 3/4 back and 2x12 3/4 back cabs from Mesa, is there much of a sound/tone or volume difference between the two?

I want the 2x12, but a local shop has the 1x12 for a great price, and if there isn't much difference between the two, then I might get the 1x12.
