So should I try to buy this old 2ch DR in my house?

A friend of a friend left his 2 channel Dual Rectifier at our house. It's been sitting here maybe a year now. He's selling it for $1000. It's the old 2channel with attached power cord. Black chassis with a blue light. The older silver knobs. It's got EL34's in it and probably needs a retube. Is this a good find? Should I go for it? Pics below:

I don't think you can go wrong with a Dual Rectifier for $1000....it's not a rare find, but a good deal if you're looking for a Dual Rectifier.

For a grand? Some might think so, but I've seen a few of the newer three channel versions (with warranties still left) going for 1000 to twelve hundred around Columbus. A friend of mine recently sold a three channel triple rec for $900.... (Sadly I couldn't justify another amp at the time...)
I've heard a lot of hoopla about the two-channel, three-channel debate, but couldn't add to that, myself.

As far as "rare" options go, this one has an attached power cord. Everything else on it resembles the G circuit board revision, which was the last one of the 2 channels. As you can see, it has a parallel efx loop and a big logo. So it's not that rare of a find, but it's still cool to just have it sitting in your house. I'm sure it sounds beastly!

Sonically, this amp will have a big fat rhythm distortion, reminiscent of the late 90's rock scene. The cleans will be nice as well.

If you've played it and you like it, 900-1000 is a good price. I wouldn't pay much more than that though. Overall, it's a great amp and will complement your 3ch well.

Hahah, very true. I think I'm going to retube it and gig with it just to see how I like it. It's been here this long, might as well let someone who needs it use it hah.

It's not that great of a deal, but it's about what the amp is worth. He might get less on eBay even before taking out the fees. On the other hand, you have a better opportunity to verify the condition of the amp as opposed to one on eBay.

Give him an offer of $900 and buy it for $950 (unless he takes the $900 offer).

$1000 is great for a 2 channel dual rec of any revision. Go for it.

And some people have no idea about ebay values. I sold my 2 channeler for $1200 on ebay EASY. (less than a month ago btw) "Completed listings" is your friend guys. Just cause there's like 2 rectos for 950 doesn't mean it's the market value for them.

$1,000 is a great price. I say go for it for sure man. If you decide that you don't want it later on, then you can always sell it and not lose money!!
