So I got my first wah pedal but I have a question

I bought this wah the other day.

this wah has LOTS of bite. In fact it adds quite a bit of volume to my amp. I tried to use the volume knob on the side and it doesn't seem to do anything at all. Is it a really delicate adjustment or am I misunderstanding what it does?

I have that same wah. The gain / volume control knob make it both louded and dirtier to me. is the "bite" your hearing coming when the pedal is fully depressed? it can get ice pick like at that high end. in fact I rarley ever fully compress this pedal. My volume seems a little boosted when I have the volume at 12 o'clock straight up. I leave it there and dont mess with it much. I will go plug and play and tell you more of my findings.
