I sold my Peavey Valveking on eBay, and I am having it professionally packed and shipped this weekend.
Question is, do I remove the tubes? If so, is it as simple as pulling them out, or is there anything else I should know?
The VK was my first tube head (the F-50 being my second), so I am not well versed in tubes yet.

EDIT Maybe I put this in the wrong forum. Move if needed!

When I bought my triple rect it had red netting on all the tubes which it says in the manual is for shipping purposes. Personally I guess it wouldn't hurt to take them out and pack them neatly seperatly. They're pretty easy to remove you just widen the clips and pull the tube out!

In a word: YES

Take the tubes out, and wrap them separately. You don't want them rattling around in the sockets.

If you break a tube in there.... the glass will hide in EVERY nook and cranny.

Yup exactly what he said. I used to have a link to a site that told you how to pack musical equipment for Ebay purposes but I can't seem to find it I think the site is gone. It showed how to ship tubes amps guitars etc etc.

Better to be on the safe side I would say.

Is there any physical danger to myself when removing the tubes, like shock or worse? I know capacitors can retain energy long after the unit is powered off, but I don't know about tubes.

Sorry for the elementary questions, I am a total tube n00b. :D

No harm unless the tubes are still hot. when I remove mine I also use a rag or shirt wrapped around them because sometimes they can stick causing you to use over force and they could possibly break if hitting the top of the amp too hard. I also do this because when I get new tubes I switch the pre amp ones around to see which works best in each slot.

I would have it all unlpugged though and wait around 20 seconds just in case.

Awesome dude, thanks! I haven't touched it in two days, especially since the sale went through yesterday. I don't think it's right to play it when it's technically not mine anymore!

But now I am scared about my F-50 arriving today....I don't know if the seller packed them separately or not! I'll be heartbroken if it's all jacked up.
