Hello everyone! I have a quick question that I'm sure someone will know the answer to. I'm looking into buying a Maxon OD 808 to put in front of my RectoVerb combo to tighten up my tone. I'm just wondering how exactly people are using the settings on the amp/pedal to get that "grinding" metal tone if you will. I've tried everything from different tubes to pickups but nothing is quite giving me what I'm looking for. Right now I've got my PRS Custom 22 with all the stock electronics running straight into the RectoVerb combo that I just put a pair of EL-34's into. I like the tone I'm getting, but it's not quite tight enough for my liking when playing mostly metal music. Any suggestions or comments would be awesome!

With the OD808- turn the gain all the way down, and the level all the way up (or at least 75% up if you want unity). This will tighten your tone in a way that pickups or EQ can not- but I also recommend an EQ with a recto...
Hope this helps

Thanks LAskyman! That was exactly was I was looking for. I thought about an EQ in the past so maybe I'll look into that as well! I'll probably need some sort of noise gate to keep the hum down at high volumes with the OD being on all the time.

I have my TS9 set up about the same as Laskyman, maybe up to 25% gain, but I have my Abunai 2 set up to about 60% gain and level at about 40%. I have it set up this way not so much as a boost, but it really adds some some nice low and mid lows and smooths out the OD into my JMP-1.
