Sold my Mark V last week and ended up buying a Lonestar Special and I couldn't be happier! It was a custom version and I wasn't sure about the tolex at first, but it really is growing on me. It's basically brand new as well, a 2009 that had been hardly payed at all. Best of all I had enough to buy a new Gibson Les Paul Special and the Lonestar for the price of my Mk V!

Such a great amp, and so much lighter than the Mk V. Better cleans and better reverb as well. Don't get me wring, the Mk V was a great amp too, I just think the LSS fits me much better. I really love the second channel on the LSS too, bass almost at zero and treble and presence at 2-3 o'clock. Just a perfect classic rock sound! I don't really get the problem people have with channel 2, or is it just with the LSC? Running it into a 2x12 Recto cab with V30s.

A pic of the new amp and a pic of the Les Paul just for fun :)

Congrats on the new amp. I didn't like the second channel as much as the clean channel till I did the Reeder pot swap on my classic. The second channel was great with single coils stock but humbuckers took a lot of fiddling with to get it right. After the pot swap, just set it and forget it. I complements on my amps tone every gig I take it on.

Maybe the vintage 30's are the answer for some people that think the combo is too bass heavy. The combos come with Black Shadow speakers... I did the pot swap myself and couldn't be happier with the amp after the simple mod

Congrats! I don't see a lot of swaps from a MkV to a Lonestar. Love it, you must be very happy indeed.

Re: people's issues with Ch2: People are trippin'. No, seriously it depends on what you want. I think the LS's drive channel is vastly underrated. It's probably slightly more prevalent in the Classic users to want something a little different, but plenty of people are happy with the amp as-is. I like to tinker, so I tinkered with mine... would have kept it either way. Speaker swaps do a lot too, but that again all depends on what you're after.
