Anyone have any experience with their Boogie and the Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster pedal?

It is just a clean boost. Loads of better options out there.

I have and use one with my Mark IV. I disagree with Rocky, I think it's a great pedal if all you require is a clean boost, or if you need to overdrive the input of your amp. It does exactly what it was designed to do and it does it VERY well. Good price to. What is it in particular that you want to know?

My comment came out a little harsh....didnt mean it that way. What I meant to say was that it is a clean boost. I personally feel that units like the OCD or HBE Uno Mos do a better job.

Duncan is a fantastic company that turns out amazing products. If that pedal works for you then go for it. I would suggest looking at a few other products before you leap.

The reason I ask is because I have an opportunity to pick one up for relatively cheap. I would like to get some sort of boost to help add gain to the Fat channel on my Roadster. The resonance switch also intrigued me, but I'm looking mainly for just a pedal to help OD my Fat channel.

So is this the kind of pedal I would need for this application, adding more gain to the Fat channel on my Roadster?

I've yet to find an OD pedal I was truly happy with for my MIV. It seems that I like the amp's distortion just fine. I ended up getting an MXR 6 band EQ pedal to boost the mids for solos and it makes it cut like a knife now when I hit it and go into a lead part. It's in the effects loop so it acts as a boost and allows me to sculpt my lead sound. I wouldn't have anything else now! BUT, it sounds like your needs are completely different... An OD pedal would definitely add gain/sustain, but also add noise unless you've got a good noise gate...

buy a maxon od808. it adds gain and sustain. perfect match for your amp

some guys dont like the midrange that tubescreamers add. I have one on my board but for some applications I just hate the tubescreamer sound.

I prefer something like the Pickup Booster over an OD pedal. My friend loaned me his SD Pickup Booster and it sounded sweet in front of my Rectoverb. The tone was so smooth and rich. OD pedals are overrated IMO, But i like a lower gain tone than most metal guitarists, if you can get the pedal cheap id recommend it though.

the EH Nano LPB-1 is worth a try too (and cheaper!)

Sounds just like your guitar, only angrier :) A friend uses one on his JCM800 and it sounds godlike; in my Rec Pre it does some nice things in Raw but in Vintage or Modern it's overkill (for me.)

I use a SD Booster pedal and I love it. Right now I've got it first in my pedalboard (to keep the strat sound, SD says you have to plug into this pedal first) and it pumps up my signal where I'd lose somel due to pedals not being true bypass.

Anyway, I feel this pedal is like a new set of tubes, the amp is more responsive, sustain for days, and with just a small tweak of the knob, I can switch between Les Paul and Strat without having to tweak the amp.

I like my Mark III's gain stages, and tone, and I don't want/need O.D. or any other color in my tone.
