Hi guys. I WILL buy a new Boogie, just need help with the final straw. I know all the ins and outs of the Roadster and Mark 5. What I need is that little something you wish you knew before you bought one. I need the unpublished pros and cons. This will be my main head. I will be using two silver jubilee cabs and a gibson explorer. I wish I could just buy them both. Thanks for you input.

first i want fluff to give me the dead horse animation......lol

and now i will be serious..i was in your same position last year and i went with the roadster firstly because the mark V was not shipping at that time but mostly it came down to what i felt i needed. you have to ask yourself: 4 channels or 3? i know now that with some pedals i only need 3 but that gives me even more options with 4. second what is YOUR sound? recto aggression or mark series precision ( i see you sold a 2c+ but still have a recto) what kind of music do you play are you in a band with another guitar player if so what do they use? maybe you could compliment them better with one or the other. but honestly if i was in the store and i sat down and played both amps i would have chosen the mark v. i love my roadster don't get me wrong but the attack of the mark is very attractive. you will not be disappointed no matter what you choose. but i WILL own both eventually so its always something to look forward to as well.

Seeing that you already own a Dual Recto I would recommend you buy the Mark V.

If you're still jonesing for the Roadster, you can sell the 3 channel Dual to fund it.

+1

Like the others mentioned, you already have a Recto- the Mark V is an entirely different beast. I had a Roadster that I got rid of within a week of buying my Mark V. :)

Thanks....I tried them out side by side and wish I could buy both. I WILL buy the Mark V. The only bad thing is they only had the head in stock. I want the combo for the extra 100. Now I need to find one.

you want the combo?

I've got the same problem. I've tried them both out side by side and have studied them each for the past couple years and am buying one next weekend. Only problem is which one do I buy. I'd rather get a Mark V so that later I can pick them up a Road King II and run them in stereo. But I'd still be perfectly happy with a Roadster if that's what I find a better deal on. Still, it's a touch choice.

I have both and end up using the MkV almost exclusively.
I must admit I am more of a Mark guy than Recto guy, but
I find the V easier to dial in in general. Also depends on the
type of gig I'm doing. if you can swing both, stereo sounds
like a massive idea! Either way, I don't think you'll be
disappointed

I've got the Mark V, a Pre-500 Dual Recto, and had a Triaxis, and previously also a Stiletto.
I just sold the Stiletto earlier in the year (but it is a fantastic toneful amp), and just sold my Triaxis Yesterday, and haven't turned on the Dual Recto since I got the Mark V a few weeks ago, and My Recto sounds good. I'll be selling my 5150 probably very shortly, since the Mark V blows that completely away as well.

Mark V is plenty heavy, or not.

Yet we always want more, don't we. (for some reason I still want to try a Diezel VH4)
