I fell in love with my roadster again today. Every time I think it's not the right fit for me it surprises me with new tones I didn't think it was capable of. I had considered selling it and getting a Mark V for a while because I was finding it to be too loose and lacking in upper midrange and harmonics in channels 3 and 4. This morning i sat down with it, started tweaking and dialed in the best sounding vintage high gain sound I've ever gotten out of it. I'm doing a cover band project for money and need to get some passable VH tones( were doing "hot for teacher", "unchained", and "mean street") . They don't have to be perfect but passable and I can't deal with Recto mud playing the intro to "mean street". Here is what I came up with.
Channel 3 Vintage -50 watts Bold(or Spongy-both sounded good to me) Diode
Master 12:00, Presence 9:30, Bass 9:30, Mid 2:00, Treble 3:00, Gain 2:00. Loop in with 31 band eq(100+125 slight bump with a slight cut to 160 and drastic scoop out of 200 and 250 and every thing else basically flat) and line6 dl4 set for short slapback delay.
My gain and treble settings here may seem drastic but my pickups are vintage output so my preamp section needs to work a little harder for me to get very saturated tones.
