I'm in a kind of dillema, i have my RKII at home with a RK 4X12 cab. And now i'm searching for a 2X12 cab so a can go gig at one my friend's house. So i want something portable. But don't know with cab to buy.

I know a RK 212 cab gives me best of both worlds with V30 and C90. But i fear that just one 12" speaker at a time will sound weak specially compared to a 212 Rectifier cab.

And i'm curious about the fact that, do 2 rectifier 2X12 cabs sound the same as a 4X12 rectifier or Stilleto(rectifier traditional) cab since it's 2 small box compared to one big box?

I would either get the roadking 2x12 or find an older used mesa halfback 2x12 with ev's in it and rewire it for stereo, which would be cheaper than a new roadking 2x12. One EV 200 watt sounds bigger than most 4x12's. I have a recto 2x12 and it's just not my personally taste, great cab and speakers, just not what I like.

I think I will concur there. I like the sound of my old vertical 2x12 halfback that is EVM loaded. It sounds pretty big. I don't even have to close the upper half. ToneAddictJon is right EVM's sound huge. Ever hear an EVM in a Thiele?

If you don't go this route then maybe try a Genz Benz G-Flex2x12 ported cab. Port City and Soundholz also have nice ported 2x12 cabs.

try a freda live 2x12.... very light for transporting and to me sounds as big as a 4x12..... its got great punch and very articulate while giving you a huge sound out of a small box..... www.fredacabs.com

Ok, thanks guys!

But supposed i buy a rectifier 2x12 and plug it along side with my roadking 4x12 when i'm playing a home. Will the closed back(V30) side of the RK 4x12 cab + the 2x12 rectifier cab playing at the same time sound the same as a true 4x12 Rectifier cab(oversize or traditional)?

I'm just really curious about it!

It will sound close, not exactly the same, but close enough. The 2x12 seems to be a little punchier in the low end than the 4x12, so you might like it more.

im a purist and only use roadking cabs they are awesome and designed exactly for what the roadking is all about. When I want that full sound, guess what? I use both speakers in the 2x12 roadking, whoa, great combination of sound, its like having a roadking combo (2 90 black shadows) and a recto 2x12 (2 vintage 30's)below it, except you have one of each speaker instead of two, thats why boogie put 2 90 black shadows in the combo, so you can add the 2x12 recto and have the best of both worlds. dont worry it sounds huge wheter its one or both speakers in the 2x12 roadking cab.

I have both the Roadking 2x12 and Recto 2x12.

First you can just plug your RK II into the mono input of the Roadking 2x12 and use both speakers at the same time.

Compared to the Recto 2x12 the Roadking 2x12 is brighter and more open, livlier. Clean sound better through it as well IMO.

the Recto 2x12 is darker and less complex sounding because the 2 speakers are the same, but it sounds great.

I think the Roadking 2x12 has a more unique design having the interior dividing board between the two speakers and having one side with a porthole, but you can't go wrong with either one IMO....
