"Road to Tabriz"

Tabriz, the biblical 'garden of eden' ....

this instrumental is a bit different for me.
i call it 'progressive funk-rock'.
;)
what do you think?

that's a cool song. what stood out for me was that the guitar arrangements are very well crafted and the parts work nicely together. how much of it was the mark II? the wah guitar in the middle sounds like it.....

thanks Lyman!!

i used the MKIIb on every track.
i tweak the settings on the amp on a track by track basis..

but basically, i tried 4 different pickup settings on my cream strat- for 4 different rhythm tracks, and dialed in a tone for each one...
then, the hot bridge humbucker plays the wah solo.

Barber tone press on all rhythm tracks...
barber DDSS on solo.
and everything but the snare, is bone dry!
LOL

(maybe i'll change that....)
i've got some more tweakin to do.
maybe change the drum groove a bit, maybe thicken the bass a bit, maybe change the snare tone.

this is the first recording i've made with this used Budda wah i bought from one of the grailtone forumites....
i'm diggin' it!

well the mark IIb has some nice cleans in it (note to self: buy a mark II)

i've got a budda wah as well, it's funny because i was actually thinking about it when i heard that wah solo you did. well, not funny i suppose it makes sense. those pedals are all about the mids! that sound is not for everyone but i like mine as well.

lyman
YES, the MKIIb DOES have some nice cleans!!
LOL
the way i'm running it right now (with the weber mass in there) i'm running the master around 5, so the output section of the amp is really coming into play...
the cleans are a bit crunchy, which i like, kinda reminds me of a Blackface at times, but with a little more girth.
i'm still trying to dial it in with the weber/palmer junction setup.

the budda, and the mids, are perfect for me.
i mean, the guitar is a midrange instrument!
so, that particular voicing is, to me, the 'meat' of the sound.
it really cuts thru.

i recently experimented for a couple of months with a Ibanez Weeping Demon wah.
it had a lot of control of the sound, for sure, but for me, it just never sounded vocal.

it was more like an effect.
the budda, is much closer to my wah sound i hear in my head.
thanks GTS!

folks:
i got an email from someone, telling me that the site i parked this tune on, was down..

it's back up now!
sorry for the downtime...
