OK--

So I was going to put EMGs 81/85 in my Washburn N4 as the Bill Lawrence L-500 (bridge) and Seymour Duncan '59 (neck) weren't doing it with my Triple Rec.

I had read some good reviews on Harmony Central regarding Rio Grande pickups for use w/high gain amps.

"WTF, I might as well give them a try." Besides I didn't wanna have to take my guitar apart to put in batteries w/the EMGs.

My guitar repair guy was skeptical at first -- probably because he was unfamiliar with them -- but after he put the Rio Grande Crunchbox (bridge) / Punchbox (neck) pickups in he was pretty surprised.

I took it home for the acid test with the Triple Rec and was instantly knocked the f*#k out--here take a look at these pole pieces, they're monsterz-

I very rarely take the time to review stuff-- but with these I couldn't help it. If you're considering switching pickups for use with your rectifiers, try these bitches out!

Interesting! Do you have the ability to post us a clip of these through your recto?

Yes, i have been looking to switch out my pickups in my schecter since my Viper has EMG's. Is there a way we can get a clip? Preferrably overdrive and clean.

I'm not really set up to record right now... I could give it a try thhough with my mp3 player (I don't know if that would do it justice).

Check this out though from the Rio Grande web site. Don't know the amp though.

also here's some artists that use them:

and the Robin's Guitar site has some sound clips, too:

One other thing, alot of the players using Splawn amps are using the Rio Grande pickups with them, check their sound page out:

Hope that helps for now--

Thanks for the links. They seem to sound pretty decent from the clips, like you said though not sure what amps are running them. It doesn't show a dealer in my area or anywhere real close, so i am gonna have to give em a call or something. Looks interesting enough to give them a shot!
