Reverb=distortion prob!

Whenever I turn on the reverb above 1 on either channel of my DC-5 it creates distortion. This is very weird. I immediately suspect the tubes. They are a new matched set of EH flying C's all rated at 22, same as came out of the amp. Also if it was a reverb tube, why would both channels be affected? I vaguely recall having read something somewhere about spring damage doing somethng like this..... Does anyone have a clue what this is going on? Any help or suggestions appreciated.

I suspect it is the tube in v5 causing the problem.
