I bought a Road king 2x12 cab and it has Celestion greenbacks installed by previous owner. Im trying to replace one of them back to Mesa MC90, but when i opened the rear of the cab, and unscrewed 4 screws that hold the speaker, i still cant remove the speaker for some reason..

Anyone knows if i have to access the speaker from the front too in order to remove it?

Im sure its same setup with Recto 2x12 cab. Any advice would help...

Did you try pulling on it? A more careful approach - if you've definitely removed the four screws - would be to get a screwdriver or something flat and gently pry it. Get under one part and pull it up just a hair, then move around until it's all up.

I had the same problem with one of my cabs. Previous owner installed greenbacks and they were stuck to the cab as if glue had been used. Ended up just pulling them out, though I did so carefully with the intention of preserving the speaker. The trick is to make sure you don't bend the metal chassis!

Is the speaker mounted on the front or back of the baffle? You'd see the lip from the back if it was rear-mounted, but if it's front mounted, you'll need to take the grill off the front. Normally these cabs are rear mounted, but the previous owner may have wanted to change that. I would inspect the seams and see if anything looks like it's been disturbed. Otherwise, do as the previous poster said and try to get something under the lip, but don't try to force it too hard, as you may bend the frame.
Good Luck!
