Finally got my other 4 6L6's. Wow, another marked improvement. Background noise almost eliminated, can hear each string in a overdriven chord, clean is soft and warm, even artificial harmonics ring easier. ***Warning: results not typical*** As I said before, my tubes were ancient. In summary, very happy.
Now I have this morbid urge to go back and re-record my lead tracks on the songs I recently recorded. They sounded like they were playing through a $2 transistor radio from 1940. I hate rerecording things, but it will forever bother me if I don't. :?
